Hi guys, I now have my chain drive diff, I need some v twin bike egine dimesions!! width is ok, but I need to know some length measurements to make
sure one will fit!! I really want a suxuki tl1000, does anyone have one they can measure??
Help please I need an engine!!
I should have an Aprilia RSVR engine in my garage later today... will be a little shorter than a TLR, etc. as it's a 60 degree twin, but happy to measure it if it helps?
The aprilia engine will probably have more power too?
I had a TL1000R as a bike, and it was mental, but i think it would be a nightmare as a car engine due to it being such hard work.
The RSV is a lot smoother, though my TL was chipped, dynojetted and derestricted so i think it wasnt running quite right.
I would also go Aprilia... altogether a better engine AND you get a free dry-sump system! Also, the 2004> lumps make 10hp or so more than the
TLR.
Prices are not too bad... I got my RSV1000R from a 2008 Factory model for £500! Eleven year old TLR's were only a little less!
And don't be fooled by the 'legendary' status of the TLR engine... remember that it gained it's notoriety last century and that
was just for being one of the first Jap v-twin engines to compete with the Ducati power-plants.
FWIW, I don't have anything against TLR's... I've owned the bike and loved it!
