went to work to day and me and my m8 where talking about my car 2004 mk indy 919 blade 128bhp and only i would say about 450kg. and he said that his 2001 audi s3 making 210bhp would beat my at 0-60 1/4 mile sprint and also on the track and his car is 1530kg would i be right in saying he is talking shit as i told him is was please tell me im right
complete shite, id happily bet the car against it if it were mine.
You could spank him till he's raw.
Take in to account though that if you do ever have a little battle on track, A good driver in an S3 could probably keep up / be faster than an average
driver in the MK.
He's talking out of his arse. Unless it's been snowing....
Have you taken you mate out in yours? I suggest you do and give it some, I reckon he'd then go quiet
Cheers
Rich
utter shit...unless you were wearing a blindfold and had your arms tied behind your back.
Book a trackday and find out .
A guy at work has a blade mk and i reckon i could cycle round Brands quicker than he could drive round.
Depends who's behind the wheel.
Craig I hope you mean the other bloke you work with not me!!!

do the maths
128 to 450
256 to 900
384 to 1350
435 to 1530
So unless he has more than that (not the case), then you win.
also
450/128= 3.51 so you should have roughly 4sec to 4.5sec for 0-60
1530/210=7.2 so about 7.5-8sec
The S3 is about 15s down the Quarter-Mile run.
I've seen boggo MK's doing it a couple of seconds quicker.
I would also imagine that 0-60 would be faster in your car too, but no idea by how much... problem is a lot of folk just guess (hope) what their car
might do and state it as fact.
As for track... depends on the circuit!
I reckon that you are looking at about 13s for the standing 1/4 for the indy blade. I think he would a be a good second or two behind you.
He would be about one or two seconds behind you to 60 too.
on the track is a bit more tricky - as said a really good driver in the S3 could give an averagely driven indy a good run for his money.

to give you an idea of the performace to keep up with my mk r1 im faster to 70mph, even up to 100mph then killed from 100 to 130mph and thats
playing with a new BMW M3 400hp i think
414hp says wiki

I disagree... he has 4WD, so I suspect he would beat you over the first 10 metres!

You ever seen a BEC 7 moving off the line on a quarter-mile strip Jon... it may only take 12 or so seconds for some of them to do do it, but 10
seconds of that time is spent stationary doing a mega wheel-spin!

Fair enough, personally I prefer to not spin the wheels though, its not conducive to forwards motion.....
I must say, ive never had wheelspin when flooring it from standstill...it just squats down and goes...
Funnily enough i just squatted down and went too

he's been watching too much fast & furious....
I doubt there's a bloke on this forum (of a certain age) that could deny that they've seen fast and furious, however, there was a SkyTV
program called pink slips (or something like that
) that was always on just before that Overhaulin' program...
Was quite entertaining (in an american way!)
Oh, and Scott, you know I prefer a plain cotton teddy n matching panties, when I'm entertaining

My tin top is 230HP and spanks the S3, it gets no where near a kit, give him a race make him feel two inches tall!!

I've never seen it!

take him for a spin brookie...then sit back and see if he still wants to bet log books on it, or send him my way id quite like an s3 !!
my volvo estate can do a 15 sec quarter .
not exactly rapid .
Just look out next week. If his car is on a garage, he is chipping it.
Not that he would win either way.

S3 in the wet doing a 14.3:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VVgxRDiPHxk
And an R1 (bit more power) powered MK putting in a 13.4 in the dry:
http://www.locostbuilders.co.uk/viewthread.php?tid=139930
Bit closer than people think?
as i have both cars lol im pretty sure to say the
mk r1 is faster
my 2001 s3 210bhp std with a re map to 275bhp did the pod in 14.0 secs dead
i spoke to alot of std s3 owners on the day and they were all about 14.9-15.2 secs
although i think i personally in my car be as quick round any track as my locost r1
the s3 is fast when moving its just wank on the brake's !
Just say to him if he believes he is quicker then tell him he must be right, smile knowingly and offer him out for a sunday sit in your car
It's the same with bikes, whenever you pull up alongside some super-hotted up boy racer type motor, the revs rise, he hunches over the wheel and
waits for the lights......
...they change, he spins off into the distance, and I pootle off with a slight twist of the throttle and catch him at the next set
I know I can whoop his ass so why bother showing him? Once you get to the open road it's sooooo easy to just whip past with a knowing look

Take him with you to one of the airfield handling days
The one I did at North Weald was great fun and very safe, I also feel that the Audi whilst quick will look like a drunk Elephant compared with a BEC
check this power 2 weight chart http://westfield-world.com/power-to-weight.html
your mk is 284bhp
and the s3 works out 137bhp
but then if you stuck the s3 engine in yours you would have 466bhp in power 2 weight ratio!
his engine is with out a dought more powerfull but his weights 3 times your mk, like the maker of 7 said, less is more!!
just race him and take his car...
Although on a 1/4 I think the MK would be quicker, unless you're confident in your ability to get it off the line it'd be close. Standing
starts aren't a BEC strong point.
On any short/medium length track (in the dry) you'll be quicker... unless he's a LOT better driver than you. On a track like Silverstone it
won't be so clear cut... but you'll still be queing up behind him in the corners.
So, yes he's talking s**t! Give him a ride and no matter how fast it is, keep complaining about his fat arse slowing it down.
adrian
i now for a fact at the 0/60 and the 1/4 mile with it being a 4x4 and a turbo and also him being a tit he would prob bog it down and stall it i now what u all are saying it is very hard to get the indy blade to get going , i thought i would win i going to take him out later on i will post up what he says later on
i used to have an imprezza wrx and the 4wd is better in the wet then dry, in the wet it used to launch, it would spin for a second make a dry patch and then grip and go but in the dry unless you had a desent clutch it would slip and burn the clutch, so really it all depends on you boths driving skills!
