i have pictures of my own designed reverse gear system ive made for my locost but carnt work out how to post pictures on here. this system works great tryed it out yesterday im sure you lot will love this idea. this system mounts to the front of your propshaft and its fairly easy and cheap to make. i,d love to share my idea so if someone can send me there email adress and post them on here for me that would be great. send to bigchunky27@yahoo.co.uk and i will email you the pics so you can post on here (you wont believe how well this works)

click on the photo archive bit on the left below your name and location

then click the choose file button on the next screen to browse to where the photo is on your pc, ok that then click upload

patent it and sell it for 150 quid a unit.

what type are your photos? if you open them and select save as, then you can change the type.

reverse gear, i used an austin mini starter motor ,a 125cc 80toothed rear go cart sprocket and a few links of go cart chain. take starter motor apart weld links of the chain to a tube then weld tube to startemotor shaft . i also got a short of cut of 114 mm mild steel tube and two flanges laser cut welded these together and bolted this to the engine flange adapter them skimmed the hole sprocket holder in the lathe to balance it job done! statermotor just swings a across on to rear sprocket and reverses the car works excellent even with two people in the car. any turner could machine this sprocket adapter for you.

Looks like a really neat setup. What engine is it mounted to? Wouldn't work on my busa as the clutch slave cylinder is in the way.

Love the chain sprocket.

my engine is a k81000cc gsxr! ive done away with the clutch cylinder and made the clutch manual the boosa and gsxr are the same engine .

How do you mean 'made the clutch manual? Interested to see what you have done, i had to make a new bracket to move the slave cylinder away from the block to make room for the prop UJ.

This maybe just what I need how do you engage the starter motor to the go kart ring & did you have to move the bike clutch thingy as my blackbird has not got much room by the prop flange?

i just made a bracket to swing the startermotor onto the drive sprocket and used a mountain bike brake cable conected to a lever near my gearstick! ive also connected the side stand switch to the statermotor so if the startermotor is in reverse the engine will cut out when in gear! the startermotor has a push button switch on the dash you swing the motor onto the sprocket then press the button this then reverses your car with smooth control this works fantastic as go cart sprockets are light weight and are made from realy hard aircraft grade aluminium this system reverses the car great even with two people in the car i have about 10mm clearance between flange adapter and clutch bracket

Just watch out for water ingress into that starter, it's upside down and looks to be liable to leaving the bearings under water with a bit of spray/rain if it's not covered.

It also looks like you need slightly longer bolts on the sprocket.

Excellent idea though.
