It's not for controling the gears on a BEC, but for the hydraulic control valves on a log splitter I'm building. However I think the load
& travel on the cable will be similar so I thought I'd ask on here, a search has revealed little information.
I've found plenty control cables for boats on ebay that look a fair possibility but can't find out what type of bulkhead fittings they use
on the outer part to see if it's something I can adapt to the valves & levers I have & the threaded ends are described as 10-32UNF which
means what? I'm used to 1/4, 5/16, 3/8 UNF & UNC etc
The valves currently have a cables & levers attached but the cables are seized & damaged, the original cables are no longer available & I
know there is a kit of parts to adapt to a different cable as being an agric engineer I've fitted a few but I've found they're over £60
a piece & the boat cables are under £20!
Try Aquafax.co.uk
They have a full range of cables and cable ends and bracketry. Mainly for marine but also industrial.
Cheers for the link.
I've been working on it tonight & got the valves mounted on the frame of the machine in a way which will allow me to mount a bracket/bulkhead
on the frame rather than to the alloy ferrule of the valve block which is the conventional manner. This means I should be able to make pretty much any
cable fit without much hassle.
& where I've mounted it means one control can work the valve directly without a cable so I've only got one to buy!
