Hi, I plan on giving my 5PW a full service inc clutch... when changing the plates should I also be changing the diaphragm springs? (or whatever
it's called!)
I believe it has doubled up diaphragms, are these a service item or just the plates?
These diaphragm plates are not replaced at service and should last the life of the engine
Is that Ian's old car?
Are you having any issues with the clutch as unless you are planning a really long trip I wouldn't bother pre-emptively changing the clutch.
I started to get a little bit of slip with just the bog standard clutch - measured the plates and they were fine. Dropped a Barnett conversion on and
its been fine since.
I tried the doubled up diaphragms but I didn't like the feel
Was Ians yep.. well the clutch doesn't bite til i've let my foot a fair way up. Not sure if thats normal on a bike engine.
Thought it made sense to do it while I was doing the rest?
That's probably just adjustment, to be honest you don't want the bite point too low else you may have trouble pulling off cleanly?
