Swap to bike engine, does the VED get reduced?
carpmart - 31/10/10 at 09:29 PM

So, a 2.0 Zetec taken out and a 1200cc bike engine installed, the DVLA informed, does the road tax come down, and if yes, from what to what?

Thanks in advance for your answers!

yes.
think it is about £125 for 12 months.
you will need an engineers report to prove the engine change. i went to a local bike shop

Do it!
Just re-taxed the F27.
So this is the drawback of a Q plate - £200 VED - don't even pay that on the SAAB for chris' sake!
Gnash, gnash.
Cheers Pewe

so a change of engine but having a Q plate means that your still paying the higher rate of tax?

Information here on how to change the details and hence the tax rate

Mine is on a Q but I don't pay £200 per year (capacity is 1074cc).
