I need to mount a pipercross backplate to my hayabusa throttle boddies. I have the existing airbox and this has some type of trumpets that connect to the throttle bodies and are pushed into the air box. Is the best way to fit these trumpets into the base plate? I am slightly worried that it will be a tight enough fit?

Thats exactly how I mounted my back plate to GSXR750 throttle bodies.

Not had any problems in 3000 x miles.

I chopped out the section of the standard airbox that connects to the throttle bodies and bonded that to the pipercross baseplate (or what was left of it after I'd cut out enough material to let the ram stacks through). I think it's fairly important to retain the mouldings on the bottom of the airbox so the little holes on the top of the TBs are accounted for. I should point our that this was for a Blackbird engine, I wouldn't imagine this makes any difference though.

I removed the rubbers from the original air box and used the air box. As a template to cut the piper alloy plate the put the rubbers in the alloy plate

If you think there not tight enough you can bond them in

All sorted, 4 decent size O rings stiffened it up nicely.
