I have just notice that the new hayabusa engine ie: 2009-2010 ..is taller than the old hayabusa......the problem being with the pipercross filter on
it hits the bonnet .......
I thinks i have only a couple of option get a bigger scope on the bonnet ......fit sock filters on the throttle bodies raise the bonnet.........
not many more options ...any ideas????
Yup!
Fit a blower....

Are you sure it's taller. I have a 2001 hayabusa in my indy which looks like it's going to be too tall for the bonnet. Maybe MK have raised it up so the sump doesn't hit anything on the ground. My holeshot sump is exactly level with the bottom of the chasis which is great but i really don't want to cut the bonnet.
The engine itself, is no taller than the old one. The throttle bodies however are taller. This is due to the fitting of twin injectors and the
secondary throttle butterflies which are on all the newer breed of Suzuki engines. These cannot be engineered around so the air filter will be
slightly higher than previously. The throttle bodies are also spaced differently to the 07 and earlier engines.
I think it is possible to fit the earlier type airbox and change the position of the inlet rubbers as they are adjustable and not concentric to the
holes in the airbox. the airbox can be modified and lowered in height to something less than the Pipercross if my memory serves me right. It may be
worth investigating. See my photo archive as an idea of what it might look like. Bear in mind that this is not an 08 engine but the principal is the
same.
exactly as comic say it the throttle bodies that cause the problem ...they are higher than the older model due to the twin butterflys .... going to have to figure something out ....
on my race car i cut a hole in the bonnet.but most other people just have left it standard with no hole in the bonnet.
they seem to run fine with no power losses.
Danny will it fit under the standard bonnet with the pipercross filter
yes it will nick.
really?
ive looked at all sorts and cant see how I can get my 09 to fit under the bonnet.
I was considering getting some angled rubbers and changing the angle of the throttle bodies.
I reckon from the top of the TB to the scoop in the bonnet I have 5 cm max
hi mike
we have a few at the factory that fit under.but they do have a shallow filter on them.
give me a call if you like
cheers danny
