Hello, Can anyone help with the setup of a dry sump system on a bec Sylva Phoenix. Should the bottom of the resevoir be raised above the level of the pump? Can the resevoir design have a big impact on aeration of the oil. I have been told some oils contain too much detergent that causes frothing in the system, can someone recommend the best type to use? When the pressure relief vale is wound in we are experiencing sudden oil pressure drops when the engine is blipped (stationary, Oil temp 50C) We have ran some tests winding the pressure relief valve back out and we have seen an improvement on the pressure at higher rpms. We are confused why this would happen. Several people have advised using a swirl pot on the system to reduce aeration but I have never seen any of the cars fitted with one. Has anyone had any experience with one fitted? Regards, Daniel

You can start by looking at the design of your tank, posting some pics may help.

Sounds to me as though the pressure side of the pump is fubar. Thats what I would be checking first. HTH Ray
