Formula 27 Blade

Hi all,

11 years after building a Westfield Megablade (10 years after selling it), I decided I had a craving for some bike engined fun! I have bought a factory built 2000 year F27 Blade. It has been stood for 8 years in dry storage, so been tinkering with it to get it back on the road. It is in real good condition, 2500 miles from new build on the clock. Got it running over the weekend, and it sounds great!

Now for a question! There is a yellow light on the dashboard, that is stopping on permanently. I'm thinking it must be low brake fluid level warning? But I'm a bit out of touch! Checked the float switch in the reservoir lid, and that seems ok, so I'm thinking there must be a short to earth somewhere along the loom. Thought I'd post and make sure it is the low fluid warning.

Could be handbrake warning light ???

As above, it's just a simple switch mounted on the handbrake mechanism and if it's been stood for a while it's probably seized

Thanks chaps, forgot all about the handbrake switch! I've had a late one from work today, but will try to have a look tomorrow and see what's what!

All,

Well, guess what? It was the handbrake switch! Managed to pull all the trim off and removed the switch, worked it in & out for a while, checked operation with a multimeter and re-fitted. All works fine now. Hoping to get it back on the road very soom, pretty much ready for an MOT now I have secured the battery.

Thanks again guys,

Chris

Pop your location in your profile (general, if you want to!) and you may find you have other LCB'ers in your area...

Well, I took it for an MOT this morning, and it passed with flying colours! No problems, apart from I noticed the speedo does no work....I think there is a sensor mounted close to the propshaft flange, will take a look later when I have finished decorating the little ones bedroom....
