Should there be a separate earth feed in the PC loom somewhere, or does it connect to earth via the large loom connection blocks? I ask, as I bought a PC3 (serial connection) off ebay (here we go...) and have set about installing it, but when I found some additional instructions online, they show the fitting of a separate earth, but this unit doesn't seem to have one. I have completely unwound the loom tape, and taken the back off the PC3 itself, but I can find no evidence of a separate wire... I am getting a green light on the PC3 when I power it up, but my computer isn't recognising it as being there - hence I got worried about the earthing! Ok, enough from me... Anyone able to offer any experience with these things?! Ta.
The two that i've fitted, one for R1 and the zx14 both have had a seperate earth cable
my usb version has a power and earth not on plugs but i dont know about the pc3 version. When plugged up does the lights follow the throttle when its moved? I would say its more the pc connection if you cant find a wire thats been cut off and a driver will need to be installed aswell as the commander software before the pc can be plugged in.
