893/919cc blade compatibility

Does anyone know if a 919 blade lump will run off 893 carbs and wiring, or are there subtle differences? Also is the mounting identical? I know the gear shift is reversed.

I swapped all mine straight across when the 893 threw a con rod and put in a 919, as you note the only noticable thing is gears are now back to front.

Also the bolt holes by the chain cover are a bit larger, I had a little bracket for speedo pickup.

919 has TPS, 893 doesn't. Think it runs though.

893 ECU will not care about TPS, going the other way may be an issue.

You also need to swap over the thermostat housing as the 919 will have a remote thermostat down by the starter motor.

oh really? i didnt know that, althought i have the thermostat removed in mine..

I ran a 919 on an 893 ecu also with no problems.. then i fitted the 919 ecu later.. pink wire & resistor is the only difference. I have wiring break down at home if you want me to post it?

Other than that there is no difference.. for the gearbox reverse its a good excuse to put some paddles and a cable shift in too
