So, after ripping the engine out of the car, I may have found the culprit of the clunking noise, the sprocket adaptor had worked itself loose.

My next challange, is how the feck do you torque it back up - books says something lilke 125nm. That i how do you keep the tranmission shaft stationary? I have put the eninge in gear 1st, I think, but the torque wrench simpley turned the engine over.

put 2 bolts threw the adapter were you would attach the prop then put a bar threw them so it locks against them, and get someone to hold it tight then torque up the bolt as normal, make sense?

ps its worth making some sort of retaining device so it can not back out, my adapter had 2 6mm holes so i cut a piece of plate with a hex profile for the bolt head then 2 holes so i could bolt threw the adapter so the bolt could never back out

This is how I held the sprocket. Big alloy or steel bar with two bolts secured into the adaptor. Get a friend to hold it whilst you torque the night. Also something beneficial would be loctite to help secure the nut.
