My prop adaptor has a bit of play in it compared to the output shaft from the blade gearbox.
So tinkering this afternoon I decide to undo the 4 Allen bolts, and drop the prop shaft and see if the nut is loose.
But... I can't separate the prop adaptor from the prop shaft, Am I missing something??
I gave it a bit of a tap but don't want to bend anything in the gear box.
Im assuming removing the 4 bolts, the prop would be able to move away from the adaptor?
Any advice appreciated

They can stick as you have a male/female joint, a whack with a hammer works.
Mine has always wobbled a bit after it has been done up tightly, I once found my bolt had snapped!

Still no joy, even with a hefty whack with a hammer & chisel. Left it soaking with a splash of WD40 now. It's like the two surfaces are glued together.
My prop adapter came off the output shaft at 70 mph because the bolt came loose.when I got the car home I had to split the adapter from the prop shaft in a car I hadn't built and wasn't completely sure how it was on so tight. After undoing the four bolts, so I ended up lightly heating it and giving it a light tap with a hammer and it came free with a little time.
Ah at last got it apart!!
Only to find the nut is tight but play between the adaptor and the Shaft, is this wright or do I need to insert a shim between the two?

There is a bit of end float as designed, this is so the bolt tightens up to the output shaft rather than the sprocket adapter and therefor should not
come loose.

Thanks Marmot, took the car for its 1st MOT and the inspector advised me to tighten it up. After a bit of reaserch I can see the reason for the play
now, all sorted.
