I'd just fit a new one if in any doubt think they are about £80

Having checked my R1 manuals, there's no reference to wear. Yamaha tell me that the chain wears not at all in use, except if it's starved of oil.. I guess the wear is then obvious!

The GSXR bibles again have no limits specified (it's the same chain), just refers to 'any discernable play in the links' as a reason to fail it. I can lay any of my used GSXR chains as you've photgraphed and get the same curvature. I have no new ones to hand right now.

Thanks for making me look. I normally just dispose of them regardless of age or usage. I guess I'm just paranoid, but I rarely re-use anything. By the time I've bored and plated the thing, new pistons, Carillo rods, stroker crank, one piece valves, race cams, etc.... not much gets left!
