Fuel Pump/Regulator?
Ferrino - 5/9/04 at 03:33 PM

For carbed BECs, what's the most common setup for fuel pump and regulator?

Is it OK to just use the bike pump with no fuel regulator, or should I stick with my current carbed CEC setup of solid-state-Facet (6-7 PSI, highest rating) by the tank with Filter King regulator next to the engine?

I should be getting the bike pump with the engine (R1), so have the option of either setup.

Cheers

stick with the bike pump. They have a regulator built in which shuts off the pump when the pressure is reached.

Agreed, solid state pumps plus regulators have been known to strangle fuel flowrate at the low pressures required for bike carbs (~1.5 - 2psi), so causing fuelling problems when the carbs are drawing lots of fuel.

Thanks guys - that was the answer I was looking for - means I can raise some money from flogging the pump/regulator, and save some weight too!
