Whats the best choice for rear diff?
We're using a Fireblade engine and have been told that we really need a limited slip and also that the best gearing for these engines is around 3.36:1
I've got a standard seirra diff which is 3.62:1 and not limited slip.
I've seen a re-con diff thats 3.36:1 but its not limited Slip.
I can get hold of cossie parts fairly easily but dispite being limited slip they are 3.64 (2wd) and 3.62 (4wd).
What do I go for without spending a fortune on a Quaffe?
What have others used?
If ur not useing ur car on the road u could try a locked diff....just jamb packed full of axle shattering goodness!!!!!! if u try this method u have 2
options
u can weld up the pinions (this can break leaving u with no diff
or u could try a spool that connects booth axles together
or u could be soft and get a lsd
Why a lsd
If you like sideways action ( i see a scooby in your avatar)forget the lsd and stick with a normal diff!
if your racing i agree with `phull` the locked up route.
cheers Sting
A locked diff will leave you unable to go around corners, a LSD will give you MORE sideways action than a standard one . As for ratio's I haven't got
a clue sorry.
Col.
ratio depends on wheel / trye size........there is a previous string on this very subject.....
It'll probably about 60% road use so the locked diff is really out of the question.
Yes I do love travelling side ways as often as possible but this is still just as easy to do with an LSD with the added avantage that the sideways
drift can be faster and so much more controlled.
