refoaming sausage air filter
smorse - 4/8/12 at 07:37 AM

i have a choice of splashing out £80 on renewing my piper cross air filter or the cheaper way of just removing the old foam & putting new stuff on, having never done this before any tips & recommendations/ links to reputable sites that sell the foam sheet would be appreciated or would you say its a bad idea?

last question why are they called sausage filters, are they a PIG to get off?

Why do you want to re-foam it?

If it is because the filter is dirty then it can be washed and re-oiled.

Cheers

can anyone help apart from cleaning it?

I seem to recall on here a few years ago someone asked the same question. You can get the foam, its something like industrial filtration foam. A search will probably throw up hundreds of answers but you may find it (or it may all be in my mind).

thanks, ive searched with out success for triple layer foam that pipercross use so buying one of these instead, its still much cheaper than westfields equivalent at £90 delivered

I have been wondering this myself, my car has a Westfield filter on it but I dot want it to have the Westfield foam in it since its an mk! Yes a bit fussy I know but it bugs me lol!

Maybe I will just buy a new one and sell my Westfield one
