Just located an exhaust control valve actuator when stripping my bike. Can someone please tell me what these exhaust valves do and whether they need
to go in the kit car when I use the engine.

The valve is there to eliminate a dip on the torque curve at around 3500 RPM.
You can remove it (the valve, not the dip), but you need to do some wiring mods otherwise the
ECU will throw an error code.

A good rolling road setup using a power commander can improve it a lot. The dip in my R1 power curve was illiminated this way.
ok, to disable the exhaust valve and prevent any FI light coming on, you must disconnect or cut the Black/Brown wire which is pin number 33 in the
ECM. It is located in the Larger of two connectors, bottom row (clip on top row) second in from the right. By doing this, you will not need to
transfer any of the exhaust valve actuator into the car.
You can safely disconnect the actuator from the harness connections. It is a good idea to try and use the speedo from the bike as this will match the
engine and give you the use of the FI light if any problems occurr.
