You know when you should do something and fully intend to do it, but put it off?
Then you have a disaster because you did not do it?
Well......As I previously posted I was going to take off the sump and move the plug to the side....I knew it was an accident waiting to happen...I
knew it.
Guess what?
I bought a trailer yesterday. It was a very good buy from ebay. Unfortunatly I also wanted it to go in the garage so that I could keep the car on it.
It was just too wide for the garage door. So the frame had to go. Out came a saw and I removed two sections, one each side of the door. The trailer
went in.
The next task was to drive the car on the trailer. It started pissing with rain so I wanted to get it inside.
Drove up well and didn't notice any problems. Turned off the engine to hear a trickling sound. I knew what it was straight away. Oil flooding the
garage floor....Oh SH*T...... Sump plug ripped out and a hole in the sump.
Suppose I will have to get it done now. I also want to change the clutch.
Could have been worse. I was going to go over the Dartmouth ferry the other day. This is an 8 car pontoon pushed by a fishing boat. Very low tech.
Thought better of it due to the clearance problem. Otherwise could have happened then. Oil all in the river and me stranded. I would have been
popular!
To those of you with the old sump plug still protruding down...MOVE IT....don't be fooled, it will haunt you!!!!
I might be able to salvage the sump..If not anyone got a spare?

Sorry to hear of your bad news Lightning!
Sh*t happens eh?
But it's forced you to do it now!!!
No other damage I hope. Somebody will tig it up for you, volunteers anybody.
On the way to Le Mans this year one of our party took the sump plug off his CBR1000 Striker, and we had to get it TIG'd up by one of the guys at
the Frensh port. They tried to make out it was specialised equipment to do it so charged him 200EUR to do it, feckin rip-off but got him back on the
road and I think he was able to claim it back through his breakdown insurance anyway.
Anyway back on track, if its a blade one you're after then I have at least one spare you can borrow / buy, and I can even get it modded for a
side drain too if you want.
cheers
Chris

Thanks Chris, I may well take you up on that. I'll let you know when I take off the sump.
The casting around the boss was shattered . So at least another boss will have to be made and tapped.
However it may be easier if you have one and get it modified. U2U me how much you would want for a sump with mods
Thanks Steve
