Dear all- I'm running a 2001 yamaha fazer 1000 in my Indy.
1) In order to pass the IVA will I need a catalytic converter?
2) if so which Cat should I get?
3) which silencer? Should I just use the bike one?
My main aim is to get this beauty on the road- I'm not too fussed about getting the best- upgrades can come later!!
Cheers
Pete
Hi
Yes you will need one + a load of other set up info for the IVA
send me a UTU with your No & I'll ring you or send you my no if you prefer
This was ours on our 2001 Indy R1, passed at 97 decibels.
IVA exhaust with cat
Where are you situated ?,
Its a good idea to post this as there may be local people who can help.
Good luck
René
thanks for your reply- I'm new to this so any help is very much appreciated!
I've seen this on eBay what do you think?
2.25"' / 57mm High Flow Sports Catalytic Converter 59925 | eBay
If I put this in line with a 6" silencer do you think that will do the job?
Pete
Looking at that advert I can't see any mention of the cat density. Normal cat would be 400cpi (cells/inch), sports cats can be 200cpi or as low as 100cpi. 200cpi should still pass IVA/MOT (mine passed SVA) but 100cpi could be borderline efficiency to get through the test.
It is a 200 cell- I phoned them. Can anyone recommend a silencer I could couple with this? It needs to be cheap but also get me through the decibels test!
I used one very similar to that, 200cell with a Kawasaki ZX12R Titanium silencer (eBay for around £30). Emissions are well
under required, and the inlet, with standard airbox, is louder than the exhaust
I couldn't fit the standard airbox- what do you think of the 'cones' I have fitted ( in my photo archive) they were really cheap- but
will they be sufficient? I'd also appreciate your opinion on the radiator brackets I've used. Do you think they will be enough- it feels
pretty strong but I'm worried that they will take a bit of a hammering when going over bumps at speed.
All constructive opinions appreciated!!
Pete
