2006 R1 running rough
corrado vr6 - 16/5/13 at 12:02 PM

Hi there, yesterday I had my 06 R1 running in the kitcar as usual and noticed a oil leak around 250ml tops of oil leaked, stopped immediately and fixed the leak, the oil level was still within the limits.
After this I was adjusting the throttle cable as it wasn't returning smoothly, so I was revving it to obviously check to see if my cable was sorted, after doing this I have since noticed that my exhaust note has changed it sounds a bit toof toof as if a air leak? It also pops and farts a bit now as if its burning some fuel in the exhaust, could this be over fuelling?

Thanks in advance

First check would be to see if you've dislodged any vac' pipes while messing with the throttle.

I shall check the breathers tomorrow thanks for that!

Would a fuxxed cat or silencer be an answer? Could revving it a lot have blown a joint?

...as he says.

Don't overlook the vac pipe connection to the vacuum pressure sensor, right side of the fuel rail. If this sensor is disconnected electrically or pneumatically, the mixture will be rich and the engine rough (apart from air admittance to the manifold if the pipe is dislodged).

If you've disturbed the operation of the thermostatic driven fast idle (that spindle arrangement at the bottom of the TB's), fouled it's movement perhaps, that's another place to look.
