New plate for BEC at IVA?
Sloan85 - 23/5/13 at 09:55 PM

How does it work getting a new plate with one major reconditioned part when engine and gearbox are together? Does one of them need to be new or can both be reconditioned?

Cheers

Its DVLA, not IVA that give new reg, I recall Qs being issued to some as they classed them as 2 components despite being 1 physical part. Others have been luckier.

What are you using for reverse ?

I had a Quaiffe reverse gearbox and classed that as my gearbox separate from the R1 engine - got a new plate.

Electric reverse so that won't be an option.

I listed my engine as my "reconditioned as new" item but with a note "with integral/inseperable gearbox". I put my prop' as "transmission" from memory or I might have left it blank. It was never questioned and I got a new plate.

I think there has been someone who couldn't get the DVLA inspector to accept it as one item. The internet did the rest and the story about not being able to get a new plate with a BEC took off.
