I want to mount Kawa 1-litre engine with its gearbox transversally in the middle of the car. Do you think it is possible to avoid the use of chain drive?

not very easy transverse imho. if you put it inline you could sort something out with a small sierra dif and rear end.

Quaife do a rear diff that gets rid of the chain at "mega bucks" it goes straight onto gearbox output.

Whats the prob with a chain ?? makes for instant ratio changes.
