R1 Clutch Plates - 2003

I'm sure when I originally built my car I was told to put a friction plate in first then 2 clutch plates, then alternate from there until all the plates are in

I've just looked in the work shop manual and that says to start with a friction plate and then alternate straight away - can anyone confirm what is correct and how many friction plates there should be

13 plates in total, 7 friction, 6 steel.

Friction, steel, friction, steel etc, so you will start with a friction and finish with a friction.

Worth noting that the first friction to be fitted is slightly smaller than the other 6, ie has less friction area

Just checked it again, I have 7 steels also.....

I bought an EBC kit and it came with 7 of each, I only used 6 of the steels as that made the correct height for the stack in my car and the clutch has been ok for 6k of track miles.
