Hi all first post so go easy on me. Not sure if this is in
The right section but its bec related.

So I'm about to start my build but just need some advise.
The car will be used for race use only and the engine is a
929 blade. I plan to run the car on 13s and use sierra front
Uprights as used in the book. Now am I goin to have issues
Trying to get brakes to fit inside a 13 inch wheel?
I know by using cortina uprights that this will solve it
But would require different w/bones and chassis brackets
Now since its a race car I will want to use upgraded discs and
callipers so if anyone knows of a kit available please let
me know.

Cant comment on the uprated callipers, but can confirm standard sierra items fit inside 13s.

Thanks for the speedy reply mate.
Just seen rally design do a willwood
4 piston kit for the sierra. Says they fit
a 13. While we are on the subject what options
Have I for rear brakes don't really want to use handbrake
calliper but willwood are not in my budget.
Was thinking of using fiesta/escort front calliper
Anyone done this before?

I would urge you to find the budget for Wilwood powerlite with solid discs on the front, as you intend to race it will give you the best value on lap times just for the better pedal feel you will get, all other set up's tend to give you a wooden pedal feel.

Power can come later so best bang for your buck is being able to stop later and carry more corner speed through the apex, so good brakes, shocks and tyres.

I am going to use the willwood setup on the front. I meant that I have not the budget
For willwood on the back and I want to know what options have I for back brakes?

I have also read on here that the 929 blade needs no sump modifications
Is this definitely the case?

You have make sure you do not 'overbrake' a light car.

Fitting the biggest brakes as possible can be overkill and will add extra weight.

wouldnt say that is totally true, if you do decide to go for the AB billet sump, give me shout as i
have one that is as new for sale

i does give you piece of mind against engine failure if you are racing, and the billet sump is way cheaper than engine replacement

Speak to andy at AB performance, absolute top lad and knows a thing or two to say the least

Will probably just go with standard rear sierra stuff.
Class has a minumum weight and will most likely have to
Add ballast so spending on lighter brakes makes no sence.
