Hi there,
I have had 2 IVA tests now and this Friday ill be having my 3rd, each time I've had emissions test I have to hold it at 2500rpm for 3mins I just
wanted to check this is all the norm as my tester has made a few errors in his assumptions on previous tests and it just entered my head that maybe
he's wrong here, it's not a problem as its been mapped now and did show a lambda reading of 1 (lambda is what it failed on before) however
it did fluctuate a little but did go to 1 for a while.
So has it got to be on the machine for 3 mins and has it got to stay within the limits for the whole 3mins?
I know I've asked lots of questions about emissions and IVA etc but this time I have to get it right and so I want to make sure my examiner is
correct to.

As long as the lambda reading is 0.97 to 1 .03 with Both C.O. And H.C s below200 PPM at the same time the fast idle test can take as little as
20seconds although a further 30seconds pre conditioning at 2500 to 3000 rpm is needed followed by testing at idle. Just notice you have a bike engine
but IIRC the regs are the same

Ok, now I may have understood this wrong, but are you saying it also needs to pass and idle test too, sorry I know I should know this but my examiner isn't very forthcoming with advice and its never been close to passing before so never got past the fast idle bit
Thats my understanding of it,same as MOT test I think, fast idle and idle test.
So as soon as all 3 (co, hc and lambda) are correct and stable the fast idle test can be stopped and moved on to the idle test?
Correct.
Fast idle test between 2500-3000, lambda 0.97-1.03, CO<0.3%, HC <200ppm.
Then idle test, CO<0.3%, HC <200ppm (no lambda requirement on the idle test)
Ok that's so much clearer now
Thanks all
