I'm just fitting a billet sump to my zx9 engine in my sprint car.
It has a baffle plate that sandwiches inbetween the sump and engine.
2 questions,
Do I need the baffle plate?
Can I make my own gasket out of gasket paper?
Thanks
Jim
Yes you will need the baffle.
I would think it would be very hard to make a gasket that will seal properly. From what I remember the gasket is pretty intricate.

What he said ^ not saying you couldn't make one with a lot of patience, but they are cheap enough to buy 2 OEM from a dealer.
Peteff - 9/4/14 at 09:20 AMI bought gaskets and couldn't get them to seal so I installed my baffle with instant gasket mastic either side and it was leak free.
Wadders - 9/4/14 at 12:36 PMFunnily enough mine has always dripped, and i used two OEM gaskets, always thought it was down to me

Instant gasket and no OEM or with both?
