Just wondered if anyone had a problem where the sporcket adapter moves on the shaft. What I mean is that the adapter seems too thin for the shaft and you can waggle it forward and back about 5mm.

Aha - you found the flaw... well, not so much a flaw as a design tweek.

The adaptor is made purposely thin to accomadate different sizes of sprocket peg lengths. A spacer is to be made up - we made 3 of 3.00mm, 3.05mm and 3.1mm with an internal bore of 20.8something or other millimetres. This was placed over the spline to take up the slack you refer to. Chris Mason (on here) may have at least one we gave him. If not it's easy enough to make a few yourself or have someone make a few for a few beer tokens.

Most usually come with a spacer I thought (?), you definitely dont want it moving around as the fastening bolt is likely to break if the flange is loose.

I had a spacer deliverd with the prop from MK. Fitted fine. Martin should give you one........so to speak.

i've got the same problem...it's certainly worrying as it causes prop noise when slowing down...

Does the ZX use the same spline as Blade. I want an adaptor so I can measure up for my prop.

Reading what Chris is saying above looks like it would be best to get a spacer sorted before it breaks!

I think I will speak to someone I know and see if I can get something made up, maybe I'll do what Hellfire did and get a few extras done in differing thicknesses, if I do you are welcome to one.

My adaptor was too thin as well.

I don't know if the blade is the same as the Kawasaki but the Haynes bike manual said to replace the locking tab washer when replacing the sproket. I got three from Kawasaki at about £2 each. Are about 1mm think and splined like the shaft. Fitted two behind the adaptor and one in front, bent to lock the nut in place. Tightened up nicely.

Anyone see any problems with this let me know before i do something wrong!!

Yep I would definitely recommend getting it fixed ASAP as ISTR a few people on the BEC list having failures due to loose fitting prop flanges
