BEC Exhaust Manifold Fabricator - Recommendations
motorcycle_mayhem - 20/9/14 at 01:28 PM

Has anybody any recommendations for a 'good' stainless exhaust fabricator, one that you've used yourself or have had direct experience of?

In an ideal world, it'll be a guy that understands tapered headers, the importance of 1 litre (R1) lengths and matters pertaining. He'll be given a specification of tapers, widths and lengths, 4-2-1. Stainless steel is preferred (it's in a middy, so will get wrapped in tape to bake itself).

I've personally used Simpson, having no issues there, except (perhaps) the lightness of materials (they're very into rally systems). For mild steel I've used Tony Law, lovely seamless pipes (was even thinking of mild steel coated with something insulating?).

Any other's welcome. I've approached OJ (in Newark), lovely work, just way, way, way, way, way too expensive.

I promised a chap I'd sort out a manifold for this car, which I will do after the racing season's end this month, but I certainly don't have the time to weld it up myself. He's happy for me to take it somewhere reliable.

Given the nature of a negative response, please feel free to drop me a PM for people to avoid. Total confidentiality and my sincere thanks.

AAS in Scotswood. Did a cracking job with mine fully understands exhaust design and can easily make what ever you want.

I'm a big fan of Simpson, can fault the entire experience.

Thank you everybody, I'll make a few enquiries, discuss the matter with the owner of the car (not a matter of urgency if he's looking at this, since he knows I'm busy until season end!).

I'll let you know what happens (and the result of the happening) in due course.

Lots of shiny pipes and beautifulness, or sugary overcooked welding and crap 301.......
