Out sprinting today and managed to hit a slab of concrete

The frame is okay, just bounced over it but the gears are shot, the lever still works but it is stuck in third and makes an awful grinding noise if trying to shift gears so I assume when crashing I had my hand on the gear shift and have bent a selector?

Anyone know what's involved in replacing these, can it be done in situ by dropping the sump and pulling the clutch out or do I need the split the engine

I think that you can in theory.
But from memory it would be a mare!
And probably as quick tp pull it and look at it all in daylight rather than trying to do it by feel?

Just stripped my zx9, replacing my gearbox so I split the case but with the zx9 you can remove the shift fork bars that they slide on after taking off the clutch basket, just a matter of if there is room to get the fork out of the bottom. Also found out that since I destroyed 3rd gear and was wearing my shift forks, I trashed all my main and rod bearingsand seized a rod small end, not fun.

Not sure if it applies to a blade, but every inline 4 cylinder bike engine I've had would allow you to get at the gear selector forks without a strip down.

You can access the two forks from the sump and remove them after the bar they sit on is removed. The bar is held in place by one of the engine covers, I think it's the sprocket side.

Sorry if I am vague, but this is all from memory and been a long time, but I have definitely swapped out selector forks through the sump before.

From the video it looks like a case split so wouldn't work in situ.

You have to split the case to do the transmission but if you want to do just the forks and drum you can remove them by just removing the clutch gubbins.

I,m hoping the gears will be okay, just bent forks at this stage so an insitu attack it is then.

Once the sumps off and I have a good look inside I will know what's what.
