Estimating Clutch Release Force?
cloudy - 26/2/15 at 10:14 PM

I'm trying to analyze stress on a bike clutch slave mounting plate, and want to estimate the likely force required to release a GSXR 1000 clutch pack - the actuation is direct with no leverage. Any good ideas? I can't find any information on the rating of the springs, let along the preload

Any help welcome!
Thanks,
James

But some weighing scales from a fishing shop and give the lever a tug? !?

It's hydraulic via a push rod - doubt I could do it by hand! Not got the hydraulics piped up so can't test for pedal effort and then work out the ratio

What model of GSX R1000 is it and are you trying to make a cable clutch instead of hydraulic?

K1/2 - converting cable to hydraulic

I think you will find that a K7/8 Sprocket cover will fit your engine and it uses a Hydraulic cylinder. It will save you a lot of work and calculation. Are you fitting a prop shaft. If so you could probably cut the area to accommodate.
