Bec battery issues

I've just boiled the battery on my zx9 engine. I've got a replacement rr that in going to fit any ideas what else may have caused it to over charge ?

Rectifier went on my blade engine and boiled the battery dry in a few hours.

It was charging at 16v so it sounds likely
