Battery Isolator
Lightning - 6/12/04 at 05:12 PM

I have fiited a battery isolator. in line with the negative(earth) lead. Yes it cuts the battery, but the car will still run if disconnected via the generator. The question is how can I make it cut out the engine? For motorsport does it have to do so? I have the bike kill switch would that do?

Ok that was 3 queations

Help required as I would like do hill climbs and the like next year.

What's a queation?
I put my isolator on the positive side of the loom and it turns all power off to everything when removed.
Even stops my engine (even though it's a car jobber).

Is it a proper FIA cut off switch (with extra terminals for cutting off extra circuits) or the cheaper ones that will only cut the main in-out to them?

i.e FIA spec one :

it's running on through your alternator charge light believe it or not!! to fix it the isloator should be wired to cut the battery +ve . the isolator should have four terminals on the back of it and through the n/c contact of these you should wire the ign feed to your coil/ecu . or you can wire an ign live to the n/o side and from the other side put an 100 ohm resistor to earth.
