on a post previously on this forum i heard someone saying that on the r1 fuel injection engine you need some wireing that goes to the exup valve???is this the exup valve servo unit i need or is the wireing.
the exup valve is a servo that controls an inline exhaust valve for emmision control at low revs. The electronics look for this so what most do is
to dry mount it. This puts it into the circuit and the engine management system is happy ,thus not going into fault mode.

so is it the exup valve i need or the electronic servo?????????i have the valve in the exhaust headers but im not sure about the servo unit
Does the injected R1 have mechanical cables running from the servo to the EXUP valve, as per the carburetted one? Well, even if not, all you need is
the servo.
The ECU looks at the feedback resistance from the servo, which should be a given value at a given engine speed - anything other than this and it gives
a fault code. This isn't a problem if you're not using the Yamaha clocks, but if you are (like me) it would become annoying. You can get
various bits of electronics to fool the ECU, or just link out the feedback wires but you'll still get a fault at tickover.....
I thought long and hard about the best way to get around this, and then bought a servo from ebay for £25 which will be mounted under the dash out of
the way - problem solved!
