I am trying to choose a locost kit to build that has a bike engine. 1st I concidered a R1ot but I want to use the car on the road and it has never
been SVA tested - I dont want to be the first.
Can you suggest to me any locost kits that accept bike engines, preferably mid engined, that that have passed SVA. Cars known to give good results
are best, providing that they can be built at low cost.
Whats your budget?

unlikely to be first as there is already await for kits, and having spoke to sylva about sva there is no reason this car will not pass sva if built properly

Has the R1ot passed SVA?
I am concerned with the capri steering column, the CAT/emmissions and general SVA proof construction. If the factory hasn't bothered to SVA a
R1ot then they are not likely to support their custormers much.
Looking at this it doesn't have a reverse, but I suppose Jon could help you with that.
id'e post a pic of what ive' done but this pc dont like my digi camera, would fit the above set up though.
not too keen on the drivers side driveshaft ive twisted one ot two like that in my time, for what they cost to have made id'e have a proper job
done, they don't half make a mess when they let go.
Other than that, I can't see any reason why it can't be road legal.

there is an alternative driver's side drive shaft. the one shown is from an XR2 or diesel. ordinary petrols have a heavier solid shaft rather than a tube.
or a titanium one (see my pics)
classic conversions did mine... grade 5 TI 57% lighter than the ford ones..

not sure if sva has changed but my mates striker passed with a mk2 escort colum and collapsable boss but that was a couple of years ago.
Why mid engine?
If its weight distribution you're after, a standard BEC Locost is about 52% rear, 48% front - you can't get much better than that!
If it's pose factor, ignore the above an go for R10T

try building a round tube chassis rush then...
your on your own with a lot of it ...and i have had to apply a lot of build it your self ideas...
take me hat off to you blokes that build them up from scratch
