Evening all,
Pretty sure my Stator on my 4xv has melted/died... anybody know if a 5pw would fit? I know the 4xv and 5jj are the same.
Cheers
Phil
No the 5PW stator won't fit inside the 4XV/5JJ magneto, don't ask me how I know!
Cheers Kev, I'm guessing I was about to have a similar storey to you....
Going to wait till the winter now, will just keep charging the battery for the summer. Erghhh.
Don't suppose you know the AC voltage that should be coming out?

Some great videos there showing testing the stator and regulater.
What AC voltage is yours showing?
Presuming you've checked/replaced the mutiplug between the stator wiring and the loom?
The white plug and inch of white wiring completly melted and burnt out and shorted out a few weeks back, at the time I was pretty convinced the Stator
would have gone too, but I wired in a new plug and repaired the loom and it was charging at about 13.6v, so I thought I'd got away with it...
Will do some more test this weekend thanks for that link, maybe it's not the Stator (but I can't really see it being anything else )
I've fitted a Mosfet reg on mine, and all new wiring to get it more reliable.
Is your plug onto the reg OK? And the wiring into it?
I had one wire on the reg plug that had a bad connection,so it had got hot and partially melted the wiring plug and the wire had corroded.
Epic fail, after replacing the wiring and plug from the original melting issue, I wrapped it in self emalginating tape.... after closer inspection, it
had tightened up, pressed the 'release button' and allowed the plug to slide apart....
So, it's was a pretty simple fix, plug it back in, I love it when the simple solution is the most obvious, shame I spent ages looking for the
most difficult answer.
what an idiot
