Can anyone recommend a supplier for a sprocket adapter for a 2003 FI R1 engine please?

How are they secured to the R1's output shaft?

What's the diameter of the flange (is that the right word for the bit you bolt your driveshaft to?) for these things?

do you have the original sprocket??


i made my own in a 3D program very easy..

and i centered averything for maximum accurency....

i can send you a pdf if you want..

do you use the sierra central drive shaft?

I got one of theirs for my zx9r. It takes a smaller PCD than the Ford prop, Marina or Reliant fit.

Evidently most blade ones can be machined to fit the R1 if you're struggling. The splines are the same but the flange needs to be a little thinner on the R1 so would need machining down a little.

I orderer one from w**stfield's website, they were by far the cheapest I've seen.

It was an 87mm gearbox flange. (Standard size bailey morris prop shafts use and other probaby)

It's the one for the fireblade, I got it machined down as necessary at a local machine shop. Only problem is getting the nut to fit, but I'm getting the shop to make me one up.
All in all cheaper than anyone round here can supply and I ordered it one day, it came 2 days later. Even better they take card so you don't have the hasstle of sending a cheque off, waiting for it to clear etc etc.

I notice the other day whilst fitting the flange to my R1 that the nut only went on by a couple of threads..... The motor has to come back out yet to fit the sump baffle, so I may just skim it down then, or just put the nut on backwards as they are counterbored on the rear face!

Still, I'd second the MNR vote as they seem very good quality for not much cash!

The MNR one I have in the blade fits like a glove.

Best way is to have the raised bit on the back machined completly off, then just re-paint it.

You will be also be able to put the original locking ring back on behind the nut and have plenty of turns on the nut as well!

i have a VFR soow there wasn't nothing pre fabricated,

the sprocked was hardened soo they undo that before lowering..

Thanks for all the suggestions. I've gone with MNR as suggested for the sprocket adapter and a load of other stuff too,

Should have thought about all this before really as I've left myself with nothing to until all the kits arrives... guess I'll have to spend some time with the family instead

TKS, how deep is that part you've made up, how far does it hang off the sprocket splines?
Im a bit concerned as it looks quite similar in concept to the one in this thread

Anything that hangs off the sprocket like this is a timebomb waiting to fail IMO, the sproket shaft was never designed to take the type of loading that something like this would put on. The prop flange really should be bolting on within a couple of cm of the output shaft end, not at the other end of a long extenion piece.

If Im wrong and its just the way ive interpreted the picture then I apologise, just want to make sure as a flailing prop isnt something you want to have!
