Built up vehicle report
nick9one1 - 21/7/21 at 10:03 AM

I'm coming close to the end of a sand rail build so have started to look at what I need to do to to get it on the road.

As the 'kit' is based on an unmodified 1303 chassis, and retains enough original parts, I'm hoping I dont need an IVA and can just complete the V627/1 built up vehicle report.

I have the V5 but no receipts. I bought both the chassis and zzr1100 engine from eBay for a couple of hundred quid each. At the time I didn't really think about receipts. The eBay history doesn't go back far enough for me to contact the sellers.

the * says, Receipts for replacement parts must be produced to support applications. So I'm presuming I dont need a receipt for the chassis or any part from the Beetle?

That looks very smart.

It is a while back when I built my VW beach buggy, like yours it was only a body swap. I filled in the same form, sent it, a week later the police came out to verify the chassis and engine numbers (they were particularly clueless) and the DVLA sent me back the new V5 with is still called a VW Beetle! oh FFS with only the change of colour different. Looking back I wouldn't even have bothered and just told them of the change in colour, as the whole exercise was a prefect example of pointless paper shuffling. For the insurance it was down as a VW beachbuggy, was stupidly cheap

There is no way a IVA is required.

Get it finished and enjoy

Thanks

The main thing I'm questioning is that I dont have the original registration or a receipt for the bike engine. So the 'origin' box is blank. It also says,
"Receipts for replacement parts must be produced to support applications"

Is this likely to matter?

So if you go to ebay does it not show your purchase history?

Yeah kinda what I'm saying is your going to go through all this and get a V5 back that just says it's a green VW Beetle with an 1100cc engine. Hardly worth the bother of dealing with the DVLA in the first place was it? Personally I'd be more focusing on getting this 40+ year old beach buggy you bought like that, road tax and MOT exempt. Looking back on my old buggy, the only reason I didn't use it very much was that it was a lot of money to tax, MOT and insure just to use it for a handful of days a year when such a basic car could be driven. Pity had I kept it I'd only have to pay about £130 a year now.

Unfortunately not. It's a project thats been in hibernation for a little while, and eBay history only goes back a couple of years.
Anyway, I've filled in as best I can and sent them off. I'll see what they say.

The other unfortunate thing I've discovered is that it wont be MOT exempt due to swapping the engine out. (still TAX exempt).

I'm going from a 1600cc 4 pot 8 valve boxer to a 1100cc 4pot 16 valve, DOHC, inline-four bike engine

Do you have any ebay emails about the chassis?

nick9one1 - 4/8/21 at 10:44 AM

I've just had a look and cant find anything.

I do have the log book for the chassis and the V5C is registered to me.

Finally got a response.

Suggestions for a new name? Pussy wagon was the first thing that popped into my head but don't think they will allow that

Well done looks like you will be on the road in no time.

Green Goblin?
