Am not using the fireblade choke as other have said it's not required but tonight when it wouldn't start I suddenly had the brainwave and
pulled the choke slide and hey presto!! fired immediatly.
So basically my question is, do I have to use the choke and if I don't then do I have to lock the choke slide into a particular position.
thanks,
Rich.
thanks for the reply snoopy but I am sure when I fired the engine before I had no choke cable in and it fired fine and now immediately you let go of
the choke slide the engine dies.
I did take some bits off when sorting a problem with the water sensor thread and maybe I took off a bit that stops the choke from closing fully!
Can't be the fuel pump as it runs fine whilst holding the choke slide so fuel is getting pumped in.
With blocked main jets would it work whilst the choke is on and die if you let it off?
Where can air get sucked in!!
Rich
jets sounds possible as the other day it did fire eventually without the choke. What's the best way to clean them?
Have to check the bit that needs blanking, not sure I have it as it's a 1994 engine.
thanks for helping,
Rich.

I gather with modern fuels it is all the more commom for them to "gum up" ie thicken when left to stand in small qtys like in the floatbowl
unused. Take one off carefully and check inside for cleanliness and water in the bottom.
This should indicate the likelyhood of clogged mains , on all four?!

thanks colin, kind of sounds likely as I was trying to fire it at the weekend as you know and alot of unburnt fuel was probably goin in and flooding
the carbs so chances are it's blocked jets.
Out with the carb cleaner I guess!!
Rich.
P.S. are you on MSN tonight?
I wired up my blade choke up to the bonnet catch (as snoopy did), but I haven't used it since the car has been road registered. It just sits in the off position AFAIK.
