A few questions in one, I have trawled the net, the archive and the Yahoo BEC archive and can`t see that this has been answered specifically before, though it may have been asked more than once!
Has anyone got the speedo from a 94 Blade ie Round face not digital, working with anything other than the early sprocket mounted sender unit?
Am I right in thinking that the later gearbox mounted sender is a stationary device which points at something in the gearbox as opposed to the early device which actually spins round with the sprocket?
From what I understand from the new and old manuals is that both devices have 12v input and give out a 5v pulse per event. Can anyone confirm this?
If so has anyone got a spare late type, or know of a 3rd party sender that will give this output?

Im pretty sure the RRW / RRX gearbox sensor picks up pulses off one of the gears inside, its definitely a stationary device that uses hall effect or something similar.

Why? It was made for the job!!!!!!

I wanted to avoid the engineeering of a spring loaded arm and rubber tyre set up and have something simpler but you are right it was made for the job
Was a bit cocerned about the axial load on the unit as its not designed for it?
Is yours still OK Hellfire?

It was fine till we wrote the car off!! The spring isn't particularly strong, so the axial loading isn't that great. It's only there to keep it running on the output flange.

We'll definitely use it again on the next Fireblade build.

Ooops, sorry, yes, that was a bit Faulty Towers was`nt it? "I mentioned it once, but I think I got away with it"

Perhaps i`ll give it a go then, I do have access to an assortment of rubber tyres to fit the sender, rather than the flange so I reckon i could almpost calibrate it like that?
