What are you guys using for clutch cable on your BEC? I am adding a 2nd clutch spring to my R1 clutch, so need something strong enough to take the
additional strength.
Is it possible to cut down the R1 clutch cable to size, or is it best to take one from a car?
Cheers
Im not sure if you're using this method already, but if you're a front engine'd BEC then you can really simplify the clutch arrangement
on the R1 by turning the actuator arm around about 90 degrees on its splines, so its being pulled in a straight line directly at the foot pedal,
meaning you only need about a 40cm cable run and a new clutch cable bracket made up somewhere near where the bottom engine mounts are (usually off an
engine cradle tube).
Hard to explain but Ive got a drawing at home that will be better than a thousand words, if someone else cant post a pic in the meantime.
The only thing is it would need a custom / butchered cable but you can quite easily crimp/solder on a new nipple once you have cut down a cable if
needs be.

I just did this on my blade. I used a mountain bike brake cable and it works well.
Lookie.
You can see a couple other similar pics on my website.

Yep, personally I think Id go for something a bit thicker than a brake cable for the clutch. It would probably work OK but I would think would be more prone to stretch as well as break?
this is something we had a problem with so have now done a 5mm wire rope cable with the soldered nipple on the clutch end and a m5 rodend on the pedal
end with bulkhead outer fitting on the pedal end and adjustable outer on the clutch end not cheap about £40 ish for the complete assembly ( will
confirm on monday )
but it is indistructable !!!!
