So is it worth hooking up a cable to the choke mechanism on my R1 carbs or does it not get used very often? What have others done?
Cheers
Alot of people connect it just in case, alot use the bonnet release on the bottom of the steeering column if using the sierra colum.
HTH,
Rich.
Yeah, if you've got a Sierra column, you can connect the choke to the bonnet release catch. Very useful for starting on cold days.
Yes. Very simple using a Mini style choke cable and soldering a nipple onto the end. Others haven't used it, but have cold starting problems. I don't....
Cheers - I don't have a Sierra column, so what could I buy cheaply/easily to operate the cable from inside the cockpit? ie. something I could attach to a panel
What you need is fuel injection

Ah but you fail to see the bigger picture Mr Coose, thats all very well until youre pootling down the road whilst tightly strapped into the six points
and you find you need to push the choke back in with your big toe to stop her idling at about 4k

Ferrino - yep, a Mini choke cable comes with a pull-knob thingy, and you just need to drill a hole (10mm maybe?) wherever you want to mount it. Solder
a nipple on the end and off you go - job's a carrot!
Same with mine, I put in a stop switch on the dash so I could turn it off without needing to unbuckle!
