car shakes while driving...
tks - 23/5/05 at 01:32 PM

Dunno how this fenomenon names it self but its anoying...

You getaway with the car wich is a trick it self..

then you losen the clutch totaly then the car shakes..then your feet also then the pedal also then verything shakes...

the only way of stopping it is keep your feet flat (full engine power) or just lose and press clutch..

then let clutch go and find the point with the pedal bit by bit..

is this problem due to clutch manage ment??

is it common on BEC's??

or am i the wrong driver??

i have some videos of the fenomen..

also i need some opinions if the performance is like a BEC or not!
(as far as you can judge)

The vid is 58Mb, is there a smaller one somewhere?
Anyway, most bike carbs are very sensitive at low rpm so when in a low gear the slightest bump can make your foot push the throttle slightly, ending up in a kangaroo-ing type effect where you bounce up the road a bit with your foot bouncing more on /off the throttle until you can lift off everything and then start again, or as you say accelerate through it. The only cure for this is getting used to the throttle, maybe adding more springing to the pedal and putting in a heel stop so you can better brace your foot.

Alternatively, could it be prop vibration possibly? Im still not convinced that your extended prop flange is a good idea, maybe that is not 100% true on the output shaft or is moving around a little, so causing the prop to vibrate at certain revs?

Cant open your movie file. But from your description it sounds like clutch to me. Probably warped steels.

Does it shake only when in gear or in neutral too?

Cheers

Jim

After reading Chris' coments have I misinterpreted the problem :/

Afternoon Jim

I read it that it only shook once the clutch was fully engaged and driving so thought that clutch judder would be mainly before this whilst still slipping the clutch, you might be right tho

its quicktime...

the last link..

nahh i cant feel nothing from the prop, and it isn't the clutch eader its what chris describes as an accelarator problem...

on the movi you could see it very good..

noo, don't have a smaller one sorry for that..

Maybe it has to do something with my automatic gear change..

thanx anyway

Aha..

As Chris says its something you get used to. Siffening the accelerator spring is a good idea and you could also try changing the pivot point on the pedal so that more pedal travel is needed between on and off.

Cheers

Jim

Downloading now so I'll have a look a bit later

Should just be finished..

ChrisGamlin - 23/5/05 at 08:50 PM

It does just sound like the throttle pedal / your foot jumping around to be honest, so try stronger springs on the throttle linkage/pedal, a heel rest and as Jim says maybe change the pedal ratio to help.

Link doesn't work...

ChrisGamlin - 23/5/05 at 09:21 PM

Works for me although when replying here at the moment and clicking the link, it doesnt as a / is missing between "com" and "film.htm", try this

tks - 23/5/05 at 10:04 PM

what about the performance..??

since i have everything electrical i will just

find / build a new formula for the throttle response....

performance is poor to judge right??

Chris do you think that on the movi you could hear/see any adapter problems
(the ones you think i have/ should have)

well anyway hope you liked them an bit

have to mention they are without silencers...

and not fully welded exhausts..

i'm now rebulding sow soon more to come.

This isnt anything to do with the currently broken engine mounting is it? mentioned a 3 topics ago? Or has that been fixed and more mounts added now?

ChrisGamlin - 24/5/05 at 08:46 AM

I would think that the broken engine mount could have been caused by the jumping around seeing as the engine isnt really sufficiently supported, but from the look of the video the jumping around was caused by an overly sensitive throttle

tks - 28/5/05 at 06:16 PM

ok Chris today it did a couple of 'laps' in the car

newly mounted it feels already much much better suported//stiffer

the 'bandwith' in wich the car shakes has become very much smaller altough it still has this problem...

then today after mounting the silencers..

(1 original Honda item (from the org bike) for each 2 cilinders, one at each side)

now the pedal/engine / shaking is much much softer also the noise is now really fun and accoustic fine......

maybe in the future i buy some open items.. and prepare them for use...

but atleast this ones have E mark etc..

what i still don't know and is difficult to prove.. if the reason it is now less is because the engine produces less power...(reason for open items)

altough all this the car for me newbie is still bloody fast and my daily car isn't much fun more to drive...

in 3rd it still accelerates from lets say 2500rpm to 9000 pusshing the car fast...
(very acceptable)

will make a couple of pics, because i now want to support the engine the best i can

Tks
