just a quickie, are bike engine batteries usually the same size?
and if so does anyone have the dimensions?

Something like a YTX12-BS will be fine, the dimensions are on that link to MDS Battery too.
If you want to order one, speak to Mike Field and tell him its for a BEC, he'll probably do you a deal because he races in the RGB.

That's a lead-acid battery. Are those the ones to use? I bought a gel cell like this. What are your thoughts on this one? I liked it because it stated it was standard for the fireblade and it is increadibly light.

Rog, if you're going to order one (from wherever) give me a shout first - 'cos I need one as well!

I like the sound of the acid-free one, I'm just looking for a link in the UK.

it'll be a while - ive got to get an engine first before I get a battery

really just wondering if they were all a similar size before i carve a large chunk of aluminium out for it to sit in and find that its too big/small!

I doubt if you'll find an acid-free battery!
The sealed ones are definitely the best choice. An upsidedown car with battery acid dripping over you and everything else isn't very pleasant.
