I'm not saying i'm going in this direction but if i were..... what engine would you reccomend baring in mind i know jack about bikes etc so simplicity is the key and carbs seem best plus pre 93 for emissions. What are the chances of getting a decent engine thats pre93 or will pre 95 be ok?

Hi Andy,

Defiinitely the way to go

I have a 1994 Fireblade RRR engine and that is pre '95 so good for emissions at SVA time.

Should be farily easy to get hold of one although they are getting harder.

Personally if I was building again I would go for an R1 engine on carbs and get it through SVA by hiring a Cat. It's a great engine which is more powerful than the blade and more available and also it proving to be very reliable.

I have found the bike engine pretty easy to understand and wire.

If you want a ride in mine let me know

Rich.

R1....

Nice and reliable if you dont fit non yamaha parts like dodgy windage plates

But wont make that mistake again. Fuel injection this time and although a bit more complicated on the wiring front its been done before a few time now with plenty of help available.

Fireblade engine. Its gotta be the easiest installation. R1 is also pretty simple but requires air box modifying if you're going to use it - although this aint too difficult.
