Hi everyone

Can anyone give me a any quick advice with regards to rim width

I'm just about to order some wheels and my tyres will be 175/50/13 or 195/45/13

I have to use these tyre sizes as you can see by my picture theres not alot of space

will there be any real benifit of using 7" rim over 6"

thanks lee

p.s. MK have said they would do the build I'm very excited.

p.p.s When it's finished which forum can i post in will the MK guy let me in!!

Don't you think 7" is a little bit too wide ? Try tyre size calculator at www.1010tires.com. They not only calculate practically every dimension you need (including proposed rim width) but you can also compare up to 4 dimensions.

i would say 6" rim with 195's. a 175 would be more like 5 or 5.5" rim. A wider rim would in theory stabilise the side wall a bit as it would stretch the tyre out, but you have to be a bit sensible, most tyre widths have a guide size rim width and you could have more problems using a rim thats too wide with such low profiles tyres imho.

6" rim is ideal with the 175's. Used them in the past on a rally Mini when we could only afford A008's and they sat perfectly on a 6J rim. Had to stretch them onto a 7J rim a couple of times when we were short on spare wheels and although they didn't give a problem they did look a little stretched
