kevano - 9/8/05 at 10:15 PM

new battery fitted but still not charging, tested before but seemed to be fine but been out tonight and it's died again!!

mkblade - 9/8/05 at 10:26 PM

hi ya
the rectifer is a common problem to give up mine went last month

kevano - 9/8/05 at 10:36 PM

did yours start misiing then cutting out, how much did you end up paying for one

Hellfire - 9/8/05 at 10:41 PM

Common problem - mount on a heat sink and up the front to keep cool. I've heard figures of £30~£40 but not sure if that's good or not. I believe you can buy heavy duty one's from somewhere... somone will add I'm sure.

kevano - 9/8/05 at 10:47 PM

don't really know where it is as i don't know anything about bike engines, any help woul be useful! thanks

Hi Kevano,

WHat you are looking for is a small metal device about 8cm x 8cm, it has a large white plug going into it with three thick yellow wires and two other coloured wires.

You can clearly see it in this pic between the header tank and the air filter.

They are often located in the engine bay but also often under the dashscuttle and sometimes above the passenger footwell.

Rich.

thats greatl, would it be wise to get one from a breakers or go for brand new.

shortie - 10/8/05 at 11:50 AM

I think you can get uprated ones that are much better so I would recommend getting one of them, I think some others have got them so should tell you where to get one.

Rich.

When you say it died again, was this that the engine cut out? or was it just that there was not enough power to start the engine?

andy d (rizla) - 10/8/05 at 06:44 PM

i got mine from here, uprated and a finned vertion, they had it in stock,i got next day

kevano - 10/8/05 at 09:49 PM

it started missing then cut out then bumped it ran for a while then died again! you can drive it round all dayand it's fine but drive it for about 30_40 mins with lights on and it soon starts to miss again and if you stall it or you're too far from home you're buggered!

mkblade - 10/8/05 at 10:27 PM

try this Item number: 7991783694 on ebay its the uprated one i have fitted this two mine with a commputer fan to help with keeping it cool

ASH3 - 10/8/05 at 11:51 PM

Warning Warning Warning

DONT BUY A BLADE RECTIFIER FROM ANYWHERE THEY ARE A RIP OFF

If youve bought one for more than £20 youve been had n ive been had more than once

Ive found a cure n its cheap very cheap n works brill

I Will reveal all after the weekend i have my reasons!!!
Watch out for this in a new topic to be released soon

Hellfire - 11/8/05 at 11:26 AM

Don't tell me. Let me guess................

You're currently in the process of buying every Honda 250 Superdream Reg/Rec in the country. You are then going to set up shop and sell them to all Fireblade owners with faulty reg/recs and make a nice tidy profit

Can I have my prize now?

ASH3 - 11/8/05 at 06:18 PM

Well thats pissed on my fire..Hellfire

nearly right not buyin them all just
gettin one for my toolbox bottom draw just in case.
But you gotta admit these boys are makin a killin sellin the nasty little ones for £60 + you can get three superdream ones for that but you only need one im told there indestructable, mine runs just luke warm not like the red hot nasties of old. They may look like a moped cyl head but sure r cool

kevano - 11/8/05 at 09:51 PM

go on how much you thieving gypsy!!!!
put a new one on today still not showing right voltage!!!!!1

ASH3 - 12/8/05 at 12:03 PM

Kevano...Ive not recieved my spare one yet
but will willingly let you have it for wat it cost
me under £20 inc postage. But have a bash at this on ebay first http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/HONDA-250-400-SUPERDREAM-RECTIFIER_W0QQitemZ7992205792QQcategoryZ10460QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

kevano - 12/8/05 at 02:01 PM

looks like a good cheap alternative! does yours get hot instantly even with no lights on, i can drive it all day fine so it's obviously doing something but as soon as the lights are on it dies after about 40 mins cheers

ASH3 - 12/8/05 at 04:46 PM

The old was always hot watever
was on. Yep soon as lights went on
if rectifier is not charging 40 mins is
good..i had two go that way & one over charging
blows light bulbs instant!!These superdream
ones run so cool at all times no need for this heatsink lark that dont work anyway!

ASH3 - 15/8/05 at 11:17 PM

kevano was that you i see
won superdream rectifier
on ebay £8 WOT a bargain

kevano - 18/8/05 at 09:27 AM

yeah got the rectifier thanks for the link see if this one works!!!

ASH3 - 19/8/05 at 08:15 PM

You ok for wireing the
extra wire in? Simply
goes to a dc conection on
loom ( as in a 12v suppy that has been thro the rectifier ) not to batt +
