Hello All
Can anyone tell me if it is possible to get a fan switch compatible with the CBR1000 rad that switches on at 80 degrees rather than the standard
100?
Many thanks.
Hi Tim,
I believe you can get switches that turn on at various temps.
Mine comes on around 96 I think but your local motor factors should be able to get you one that turns on whenever you want.
If not then you can get one that goes in-line in one of the cooling pipes that can be set to come on when you like.
HTH,
Rich.
Out of interest why do you want ot to come on earlier? no problem with it
if its just a matter of keeping on top of the overheating, my solution has been to firstly remove all airlocks, and now ive just fitted a newer radiator (better vanes, better fit hence better angle) and a BIG fan, nearly twice as large as the old one, plus mounting it closer to the rad. No comment yet as ive not got it all back together yet!
Variable thermostat is what you need...
The reason is this - the temp at Rad is 100 degrees (i.e. when the fan comes on) while the temp at the thermostat housing is at circa 118 degrees.
The system is all standard bike and as a result I am guessing that the difference is due to the relatively long and inefficient pipe runs compared to
the bike. So my plan is to reduce temp at rad further to resolve high temps at engine.
Anyone think I'm barking up the wrong tree??
Cheers
If you just want the fan to run more it should work, otherwise you need a bigger radiator for more cooling.
