BEC Hydraulic Clutch
mackei23b - 19/1/06 at 10:31 PM

Hi there

I have a ZX9R B type with a hydraulic clutch, any ideas what master master cylinder I should use.

Any suggestiuons would be great. I know some people have used bike brake rear master cylinders, but I'm looking at all the options

Many thanks

Ian

I have just bought one of these I am taking a bit of a chance but it looks like it should do the job. Opinions welcome.

Check the slave bore, my CBR is about 35mm and I used a Nissan summatorother clutch m/cylinderfrom the scrappies, it is ok, but if I were doing it again I'd look hard for as small a bore as I can get - even with that big a slave bore the clutch bite is fierce, sort of on-off and no inbetween, just about live with it, but in traffic it's hard work.

I'd agree with Kissy - I have a Wilwood integral master and take-up is pretty sharp. I think master cylinders are available for Kart brakes - that might do the trick??

Would a motorbike rear brake master cylinder do the job, or rig a front one up on a piece of handlebar an connect to the lever with your pedal so it's using the bike original, push the pedal forward to push the lever back Rescued attachment clutch.jpg

I used the original master cylinder and lever off the bike.

Cut down the lever a bit, drilled a hole in it and used a mountain bike brake cable down to the standard pedal on the Indy.

Gives me great clutch control (touch wood I've never stalled it on take off), a built in reservoir and it passed it's SVA at Gosforth.
